HARLOW CARR - WEDNESDAY 10 MAY

"Our outing to Harlow Carr gardens was warm and bright, making a pleasant change from the previous cold spell.  It also brought out the hoards so, some patience was needed to avoid a crowded background.  Bright sun is always a photographic challenge, particularly with flowers and foliage which are highly reflective.  I found that a polariser helped reduce the glare, plus more patience in waiting for the odd patch of cloud to drift by and filter the sun.  Whilst not my speciality, this was a great day for close-up and macro work as there was almost no wind to cause subject movement.  Overall, an enjoyable day out complemented by an nice (but not cheap!) lunch in the Betty's cafe.".
