Argill Woods, Cumbria - Sunday 21st May 2023

Organised by John Gilbert this club outing saw club members visiting the stunning, secluded valley of Argill Woods.  Nestled in a river valley, Argill Woods is home to a wide range of wildlife and plants.  Wild garlic and bluebells were in abundance and a photographers delight.  The woods are managed to encourage a wide range of creatures, such as beetles and woodlice, which in turn provide food for other birds and animals to eat.  We espied a shy deer which darted off at our approach.

Between the areas of woodland you are met with clearings of grassland which were carpeted with bluebells, ferns and grasses.  A beautiful morning clambering up and down in the valley.

We would like to extend the warmest of thanks to John Gilbert for organising the outing and sharing this beautiful location with us, and also providing a delicious Hot Chocolate made from drawing water from the stream!  A great day out and fabulous weather to boot.

Here are a few of the images taken that day.  Enjoy!
